我國汽車工業通過快速發展，無論技術含量、制造水平、還是產量都有了較大的提高，但縱覽整個汽車工業的綜合實力，在轎車、大型客車、載重汽車上不能普遍裝備橡膠空氣彈簧。汽車橡膠空氣彈簧是利用橡膠的彈性和空氣壓力獲得綜合吸震、減震、隔震、防噪和緩沖的性能，從而起到承載負荷的彈性支撐作用。橡膠空氣彈簧作為汽車減震的核心部件，它的性能的好壞直接影響著汽車的舒適性和對公路的破損性。
1.國內現狀
目前，我國橡膠空氣彈簧主要側重于鐵路火車和造紙機的配套與應用，用于汽車上(特別是豪華大客和載重汽車)的橡膠空氣彈簧在國內的研究起步較晚。國外的汽車工業較我國相對發達，故其設備、零部件的配套生產技術較國內也。在歐美等發達，空氣彈簧在轎車上的普及率已高達95%以上。目前國產空氣彈簧由于受種種原因影響，至今還未能普遍推廣。
2.發展趨勢
橡膠空氣彈簧是當今汽車裝備發展、配套的必然趨勢，特別是在大型客車和載重汽車上尤為突出。傳統的載重汽車一般都采用鋼板彈簧或油氣彈簧作為減震元件，但隨著當前世界汽車工業朝著高速、高性能、舒適、維修方便的方向發展，鋼板和油氣彈簧已越來越不適應其發展。
橡膠空氣彈簧在我國汽車工業領域的拓展應用非常廣闊。我國汽車年產量為325萬輛左右，大中型客車和載重汽車的產量不到總產量的1/6，轎車、輕型客車和載重汽車占年產量的275萬輛左右，特別是在轎車空氣彈簧上的發展空間更大，如果再加上我國汽車年產量的逐年遞增，它的開發市場更為廣闊了。橡膠空氣彈簧的生產技術將朝減震性能強、使用壽命長、安全可靠的方向發展。
